FAQ
Short answers about Fruit Bandits: what is in the game, what it costs, how it works for different players, and where to play.
The game
What is Fruit Bandits?
A tropical heist match-3. Swap neighbouring fruit to make lines of three or more, clear each level’s goal before your moves run out, and follow Bandit, Pip and Momo across the islands as they out-scheme the vain Captain Beakbeard. There are no lives, no timers and no pop-ups between levels.
How many levels are there?
400 levels on 20 islands. The last level of every island is a vault heist, and level 400 is Beakbeard’s encore fight.
Is there an ending?
Yes. Clear level 400 and a short finale story plays (you can skip it), followed by a card with your journey and the Grand Finale Seal. After that, Next always takes you back to the map so you can replay any level. More islands are coming soon; we have no date to share.
What is Rewind?
A way to take back your last turn. Tap the round arrow next to the score and the board, moves, score and goals go back to how they were, and the new fruit come out exactly as they did the first time. It appears once you have reached level 12. You get one free charge to start, then earn more by winning a level with three or more moves to spare, or by finally winning a level that took three or more tries. You can hold up to three. Rewind is never sold, it costs only one charge, and it is not available in boss fights, the Daily Puzzle, Boss Rush or Star Chase.
What are Island Keepsakes?
Every island has one small enamel keepsake, such as a Golden Banana or a Mango Compass. Clear the island and a short reveal plays where a parcel pops open. Win three stars on every level of the island and that keepsake is gilded. Your collection lives in Star Chase once you have cleared 20 levels. Nothing is sold, timed or paywalled, and replaying levels pays nothing, so there is nothing to farm.
What is Star Chase?
A place to replay any level for more stars. Each island has a progress ring, and three stars on every level of an island earns its Gold Seal. It is optional and you can finish the story without it.
What is the goal helper?
Tap any chip in the Target panel and a small card explains the goal in plain words, shows your progress and a picture, and for chain and combo goals offers a move to try. It never costs a move, offers nothing to buy and never appears between levels. Settings has a Goals guide with every goal type in one place.
Playing and paying
Is it really free?
Yes. Every level can be finished without paying. Coins and tools can all be earned by playing, and paying never wins a level for you.
Will it ever make me wait?
No. There are no lives, no energy and no timers. Lose a level and you can replay it straight away.
How do ads work?
The iPhone and iPad app will show one small banner at the bottom from level 4, and the first three levels have no ads at all. Video ads only play when you tap to ask for a bonus: 5 extra moves after a loss, or double coins after a win. Nothing interrupts you between levels.
What is Bandit Club?
An optional auto-renewing subscription in the iPhone and iPad app: no ads, a free tool every day, bonus coins and a new look each month. You never need it to play, and you can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings. The Terms of Use have the details.
Are there loot boxes?
No. Nothing is random to buy, and every purchase says exactly what it contains. Outfits and board themes are looks only.
Can I buy things in the browser version?
Not at first. In the browser you earn coins and can see the looks, and purchases are shown as available in the iPhone and iPad app.
Accessibility
What accessibility options does the game have?
Open Settings and look under Comfort & accessibility. The choices are saved on your device and work in the browser version too (haptics need a phone):
- Fruit symbols: a distinct shape on every fruit, so colour is never needed.
- High contrast board: a darker floor and plainer frame. It starts on by itself if your device asks for more contrast.
- Larger text: Normal, Large or Largest for the sheets, cards, tips and labels. On iPhone it also follows the system text size.
- Reduce motion: no screen shake, fewer particles, and the sheets and map stop animating. It starts on by itself if your device asks for reduced motion.
- Calm mode: reduce motion plus softer light, far fewer sparkles, gentle haptics and music off.
- Hints, sound, music and haptics each have their own switch, plus a haptic strength and a volume setting.
Does it work with a screen reader or a keyboard?
Controls have names in your language and dialogs trap focus until you close them. The game announces the level and goals when a level starts, your progress after each move, and “Level cleared”. A hidden hint button says the best move in words. On a computer you can play the board with the keyboard: Tab to it, use the arrow keys to move a cursor, Enter to pick up a fruit and an arrow to swap it. What a screen reader cannot yet do is explore the board by touch or describe every cascade; it hears the result once a move settles.
Can I zoom the page?
Yes. Pinch-zoom is on everywhere except directly on the board, which keeps its swipes for play.
Something is hard to use. Who do I tell?
Please write to us through the support form and say what got in your way. We read every message.
Where to play
Where can I play?
Right now, free, in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer: fruitbandits.com/play. The iPhone and iPad app is coming soon to the App Store. It is still in review, so we have no release date to share.
What languages does it support?
The game speaks English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. The website home page is also available in these languages, but it is machine-translated and has not been checked by a native speaker. This FAQ and the legal pages are English only.
Does it work offline?
Levels play offline. Friends, events and progress backup need a connection.
Your progress and privacy
Do I need an account?
No. Progress saves on your device. To carry it to another device, Settings can give you a short backup code, or you can sign in with an optional account.
What data do you collect?
Your progress and anonymous gameplay events tied to a random device id rather than to you, which you can switch off in Settings. The privacy page has the full list and explains how to delete your data.
Is it suitable for kids?
It is a casual game made for teens and adults. It is not directed at children under 13.
How do I contact you, or ask about press and creator coverage?
Use the support form. Leaving a reply address is optional, and we only use it to answer that one message. Writers and creators can find the facts, screenshots and logo in the press kit.
